ProtectKit respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the ProtectKit Windows application, the ProtectKit website, ProtectKit Premium, customer support, and related services.

ProtectKit is designed primarily to analyze and manage security and system information locally on your Windows computer. ProtectKit does not sell personal information. Certain optional online features, Premium licensing, purchases, support interactions, and third-party investigation features may require information to be transmitted over the internet.

1. Information ProtectKit May Process

The information processed depends on which ProtectKit features and services you choose to use. ProtectKit may process:

Security and system information: ProtectKit analyzes information needed to provide its security, investigation, privacy, monitoring, maintenance, and system-protection features. This may include Windows security settings, Microsoft Defender status, Windows Firewall information and rules, DNS configuration, running processes, network connections, services, startup programs, connected devices, file and executable information, digital signatures, hashes, and other relevant Windows system information.
Premium and licensing information: Information necessary to determine or validate ProtectKit Premium entitlement may be processed when Premium functionality is used. Depending on the licensing workflow, this may include purchase, subscription, license, product, or transaction-related identifiers supplied by ProtectKit's payment or licensing provider.
Information used for optional online lookups: When you choose to use an online investigation or reputation feature, information necessary to perform the lookup may be transmitted to the applicable external service. Depending on the feature, this may include a file hash, IP address, domain name, or other identifier required for the requested lookup.
Support and communications information: If you contact ProtectKit for support, feedback, a bug report, a false-positive report, an affiliate question, or another inquiry, ProtectKit may process your email address and the information you voluntarily provide in order to respond.
Website information: Like most websites, ProtectKit's website may be served through hosting, domain, security, or infrastructure providers that process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect a website, such as IP addresses, request information, timestamps, and browser or device information. The exact information available to ProtectKit depends on the services used to operate the website.

2. How Information Is Used

Information processed by ProtectKit may be used to:

Provide and operate ProtectKit features.
Perform security, system, privacy, maintenance, and investigation functions requested by the user.
Determine or validate access to ProtectKit Premium features.
Provide customer support and respond to questions.
Investigate bug reports and false-positive reports.
Maintain and improve ProtectKit's security, reliability, and functionality.
Prevent fraud, misuse, or abuse of ProtectKit and related services.
Process transactions and manage subscriptions through applicable third-party providers.
Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Local Security and System Analysis

ProtectKit performs much of its security and system analysis locally on the user's Windows computer.

Depending on the feature being used, ProtectKit may examine information related to Microsoft Defender, Windows Firewall, firewall rules, DNS configuration, Windows hardening settings, security settings, processes, network connections, startup programs, Windows services, connected USB or Bluetooth devices, files, executable metadata, digital signatures, hashes, and other system information relevant to the requested analysis.

Local analysis does not mean that every ProtectKit feature is entirely offline. Features that explicitly depend on online reputation, registration, payment, licensing, support, or other external services may communicate with those services as described in this Policy.

4. ProtectKit Logs and Reports

ProtectKit may create local application, security, monitoring, scan, investigation, or activity logs in order to provide history, troubleshooting, reporting, and security context.

Depending on the ProtectKit feature involved, local logs or exported reports may contain system information such as timestamps, file paths, process information, service information, security findings, network addresses, connection details, scan results, or actions performed within ProtectKit.

ProtectKit users should review logs, reports, and screenshots before sharing them with another person because they may contain information about the computer or its activity.

5. Optional Online Investigation and Reputation Services

Some ProtectKit investigation features can communicate with external services when the user chooses to perform an online lookup.

Depending on the selected feature, ProtectKit may transmit information such as a file hash, IP address, domain name, or other identifier required to perform the requested reputation, registration, or investigation lookup.

Information transmitted to an external provider is subject to that provider's own terms, privacy policy, retention practices, and security practices. Users who do not want information sent to an optional external investigation service should not initiate that lookup.

6. ProtectKit Premium, Payments, and Licensing

ProtectKit Premium is available through third-party payment and commerce services. ProtectKit currently uses Lemon Squeezy for Premium commerce and related payment or subscription functions.

When you purchase ProtectKit Premium, payment, billing, tax, transaction, and related customer information required to complete the purchase is processed by the applicable commerce or payment provider according to that provider's own terms and privacy policy.

ProtectKit does not directly process or store complete payment-card information when payment information is handled by the third-party payment provider.

ProtectKit may receive or process information from the provider that is necessary to recognize a purchase, determine subscription status, validate Premium access, provide customer support, prevent abuse, or maintain records reasonably necessary to operate ProtectKit Premium.

7. ProtectKit Affiliate Program

ProtectKit may offer an affiliate program that allows approved affiliates to earn commissions for qualifying ProtectKit Premium referrals.

The affiliate program is administered through Lemon Squeezy's affiliate platform. Affiliate applications, affiliate accounts, referral links, tracking, referral records, commission information, and affiliate payouts may therefore be processed by Lemon Squeezy under its own terms and privacy policy.

ProtectKit may receive information reasonably necessary to administer, review, support, prevent abuse of, or evaluate participation in the ProtectKit affiliate program.

The ProtectKit affiliate program is separate from the ProtectKit Windows application's Premium licensing. ProtectKit does not currently operate the former in-app referral-reward system described in earlier versions of this Privacy Policy.

8. Customer Support, Feedback, and Reports

If you contact ProtectKit Support, ProtectKit may process the email address and information you voluntarily provide in your message or attachments in order to respond to your request.

Bug reports, false-positive reports, logs, screenshots, or other diagnostic information may contain system details. Users should review material before sending it and should not send passwords, authentication tokens, private keys, recovery codes, complete payment-card numbers, or other credentials.

ProtectKit may retain support communications for a reasonable period when necessary to respond to the request, investigate recurring problems, improve ProtectKit, maintain security, prevent abuse, or satisfy legal obligations.

9. Third-Party Services

ProtectKit may rely on third-party services for functionality such as payment processing, Premium licensing or entitlement verification, affiliate administration, website infrastructure, security investigation, reputation analysis, domain or network registration information, or other optional online functionality.

When you choose to use functionality provided by a third party, information necessary to perform the requested service may be transmitted to that provider. Third-party providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Data Sharing

ProtectKit does not sell personal information.

Information may be disclosed to service providers when reasonably necessary to operate ProtectKit, provide a feature requested by the user, validate Premium access, process transactions, provide support, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, or comply with applicable legal requirements.

ProtectKit may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or lawful governmental requests; to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of ProtectKit, its users, or others; or to investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.

11. Data Security

ProtectKit uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information under its control. However, no method of electronic transmission, processing, or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Third-party providers are responsible for the security practices applicable to information they process under their own services.

12. Data Retention

ProtectKit seeks to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was processed, including providing the applicable service, responding to support requests, maintaining security, preventing fraud or abuse, resolving disputes, maintaining appropriate business records, or complying with applicable legal obligations.

Local ProtectKit logs and reports stored on the user's computer remain subject to the user's control and the functionality provided by Windows and ProtectKit for those files.

Third-party providers may apply their own retention periods to information processed through their services.

13. Children's Privacy

ProtectKit is not directed to children and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

If ProtectKit becomes aware that personal information from a child has been collected in circumstances requiring parental consent and such consent has not been obtained, reasonable steps will be taken as required by applicable law.

14. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Users can choose not to initiate optional online investigation or reputation lookups. Some online functionality, including Premium purchase, entitlement verification, subscription management, or other internet-based services, may not function without the communications necessary to provide those services.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information associated with you, which may include rights to request access, correction, or deletion of certain information. These rights may be subject to exceptions and verification requirements.

Privacy-related requests can be submitted using the contact information below. Requests involving information controlled independently by a third-party provider may need to be submitted directly to that provider.

15. International Processing

Third-party providers used by ProtectKit may process information in the United States or other countries in which they or their service providers operate. Privacy and data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions.

Information processed directly by a third-party provider is subject to that provider's applicable privacy practices and legal obligations.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

ProtectKit may update this Privacy Policy as the application, website, Premium services, affiliate program, third-party integrations, or legal and operational requirements change.

When this Policy is updated, the revised version will be published with an updated effective date. Users should review this Policy periodically, particularly after significant ProtectKit updates.

Important: This Privacy Policy describes ProtectKit's current intended privacy practices. It should be reviewed whenever ProtectKit adds a new cloud service, analytics system, account system, advertising technology, licensing provider, or feature that transmits additional information outside the user's computer.
